75th Kontrapunkt Radio Show (in holiday mode - Romanticism) July 28th, 2016 Announcement

As usual on Thursday July 28th, 2016 at 21.00 (CEST, UTC+02:00) the next edition of Kontrapunkt Radio Show will be aired on Rock Serwis FM.

Summer continues so as Kontrapunkt in holiday mode.

Hot days conducive to uncontrolled explosions of romance therefore, the second part of the program will be marked by new romantic electronic music from the 80s.

At first we will hear fragments of a very well known and very perverse record and some tracks form the second one far less known, which should appeal to fans of Ultravox from the time of John Foxx (but probably not only to them).

At the end of the show one of the most interesting contemporary representatives of synthpop will appear.
In the first hour of a lot of different kinds of music from a movie that Nick Cave and Warren Ellis contributed their compositions as well.
The whole starts with Recoil promised some time ago.

Okres kanikuły sprzyja niekontrolowanym wybuchom romantyczności, w związku z tym druga część programu upłynie pod znakiem romantycznej muzyki elektronicznej z lat 80. Posłuchamy fragmentów jednej bardzo znanej i bardzo perwersyjnej płyty oraz drugiej znanej zdecydowanie słabiej, która powinna spodobać się fanom Ultravox z czasów z Johnem Foxxem (ale zapewne nie tylko im). Na zakończenie zagra jeden z najciekawszych współczesnych przedstawicieli świata synthpopu.
W pierwszej godzinie sporo różnorodnej muzyki filmowej w tym tej autorstwa Nicka Cave'a i Warrena Ellisa.
Całość rozpocznie obiecany jakiś czas temu Recoil.

51st Kontrapunkt Radio Show (In Between) February 11th, 2016 Announcement

On Thursday, February 11th, 2016 at 21.00 (UTC+01:00) the next edition of Kontrapunkt Radio Show will be transmitted live on air on Rock Serwis FM radio in Krakow, Poland.

51st edition of the show will be broadcast between the 50th anniversary edition last week and the next one which will summarize the first year of the existence of the Kontrapukt on independent Polish radio - Rock Serwis FM.

This time will be  new romantic and noise and between them the main dish - the first look at the new album of our favourite gothic band. Aeon Sable in a month will present to the world their latest album "Hypaerion". We will enjoy it tonight.

W czwartek 11. lutego o godzinie 21.00 kolejna edycja programu Kontrapunkt w Rock Serwis FM.

Pomiędzy jubileuszową 50. edycją a przyszłotygodniową zamykającą pierwszy rok istnienia programu na antenie Rock Serwis FM pojawi się jeszcze 51 wydanie Kontrapunktu.

Tym razem będzie i nowy romantyzm i noise a pomiędzy nimi danie główne - pierwsze spojrzenie na najnowszą płytę naszego ulubionego kontrapunktowego gotyckiego zespołu. Aeon Sable za miesiąc zaprezentuje światu swoją najnowszą płytę "Hypaerion", my będziemy się nią cieszyć już teraz.

New Year's Eve with Kontrapunkt

Tonight there will be no regular Kontrapunkt Radio Show. Instead I will have an opportunity to do a special 3 hour long dance mix for you. Everything will start at 20.00 (UTC+01:00). All will be based on 80's music but new tracks will be mixed in as well. New romantic, synthpop, electronic but also new wave, gothic and electroclash. Tracks very well known but also a few known a little bit less.
Key words - rhythm and dance. Stay tuned!

Kontrapunkt Radio Show July 09, 2015 Announcement

The subtitle of the program ("water") refers to the fluid, without which it would be difficult to imagine our existence, especially in such hot weather we experience recently. Thus, in the first part of our meeting streams of water will flow...

Again I will invite you to MPM "Ambient Festival 2015" in Gorlice Poland which will take place this Friday and Saturday. One double invitation is waiting for someone of you.
On the show tracks by projects from current festival line-up Ebauche, Aquavoice and the brightest star of the festival Pieter Nooten will be presented. I also have free Aquavoice CDs for listeners. 

What else? During the show I will also play some new tracks including another Dave Middle's band - Black Buttercups and fantastic brand new Bad Sector.

I don't forget that July 11th we will be celebrating the 35 anniversary of one of the greatest electronic album of so called "new romantic" movement. Relevant songs will also be air played.

Next episode of "Lost In Time" will bring back Sudeten Creche tracks.

White Door "Windows" in Rock Serwis FM

On Tuesday May 19, 2015 at 20.00 in our series "Saving from oblivion" White Door "Windows" 1983 album will be presented and discussed by my radio colleges Marek Anioł and Bogdan Dziewonski. If you love 80's new romantic stay tuned!

About the band:
Formed by members of Stoke prog-rock group Grace.
"Maybe it was the advent of punk maybe it was the bickering amongst the band members, maybe the band was frightened of success. Whatever the reasons, Grace split up in 1981, much to the shock of their hundreds of staunch followers.Individuals carried out a few splinter projects, but the only serious new contender was the formation of the synthesiser band White Door. The line up featured the vocalist Mac and Flautist Harry from the defunct Grace, together with brother John on keyboards. As White Door, they released an album "Windows" and several singles (including "Windows", "Jerusalem", and "Flame in my Heart"). Although the music represented an almost complete change of direction, the quality of song writing still showed through, and the established music press almost admitted to liking them."
White Door created sensitive, well-written, electronic music. Their last single "Flame in My Heart" should have been a huge hit. The first song from their never recorded second album. Synthesisiers were still in use, but guitars made a greater appearance. A wonderful despairing love song. The instrumental riff was borrowed from Frankie goes to Hollywood's "Two Tribes". Frankie were recording in the same studios. White Door's producer, Andy Richards, ended up working with Frankie's producer Trevor Horn.) was more guitar-driven and took its instrumental riff from Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Two Tribes / One February Friday" who were recording at the time. White Door's producer, Andy Richards, went on to work with many top acts, including Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Sue Quin provided backing vocals. Their album and 3 of their singles contained original artwork by Paul Warrillow.

Steve Strange passes away aged 55

 

Sad news from yesterday - Steve Strange lead singer of famous iconic New Romantic group Visage has died aged 55 following a heart attack in hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt (BBC News).

"Dreamer I know (it's over)". We will all miss you Steve.
